Ok so I’m a Christian and I profess Christ as my saviour. I know my sins are forgiven and that I will get to heaven when I die.
But what about getting through each day? There is so much pressure on all of us, and it’s like they tell us, anxiety is at an all-time high, don’t we need all the help we can get?
Every week there is some new book published about how I can overcome worry, find peace, discover myself, lead a satisfying, self-directed life while reaching my true potential.
Are we being naive as Christians when we stand and declare that Jesus is all we need?
So what do we think the Bible is? Simply put, the Bible is God speaking to us.
In 2 Timothy 3:14 Paul inspired by the Holy Spirit writes to Timothy encouraging him to continue in the things he had learned and become convinced of. Paul reminds Timothy at the end of the verse that it was Jesus living in Him who had been his teacher.
Verse 15 speaks to all Christians, it is the Bible that led us to the wisdom that we need Jesus.
If the Bible leads us to the wisdom that we need Jesus to be forgiven and receive life, it stands to reason that He will provide everything else we need.
We are told that all of the Bible was written by the inspiration of God in 2 Tim 3:16, all it contains is valuable to teach to others, it convicts our hearts when we get things wrong but then points us to God’s grace to work it out, it is God’s word to direct our life.
The idea of being directed by somebody else is not popular today, the first chapter of Romans teaches us that giving God His rightful place has never been popular with people.
But living for God is how we are supposed to live, the spirit of all human beings was created by Him and for Him to live in ( Prov 20:27 ).
2 Tim 3:17 ends the chapter with some very encouraging words, as Christians we are adequate and equipped for every good work. Another word for adequate is complete, we have all we need in Jesus Christ and are equipped for all that he has for us.
The Bible does not teach Christ plus any other idea or way, He is the way the truth and the life, that is Christianity.
Yes, Jesus is all we need.
